Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) - North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson was arrested early Friday morning.
The Charlotte Observer reported Lawson was charged with driving after drinking alcohol and driving with a revoked license, as well as violating a noise ordinance.
A Chapel Hill police officer stopped Lawson after hearing loud music from inside his car, suspected he'd been drinking and conducted a sobriety test, the report said. The officer made the arrest at 2:33 a.m. (et), and Lawson was later released after promising to appear in court on July 8.
Lawson, 20, was the Tar Heels' third-leading scorer this past season with 12.7 points per game, and led the school with 5.2 assists per game. In late April, the sophomore declared for the NBA Draft, set to take place on June 26. However, Lawson did not sign with an agent and is eligible to withdraw his name.
