Columbia, MO (Sports Network) - University of Missouri junior forwards DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons declared their eligibility for the 2008 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Neither will hire agents and have until the June 16 deadline -- ten days before the draft -- to withdraw their names and maintain their collegiate eligibility.
"This rule is specifically in place to allow these young men to go out and gather information about their professional options," Tigers head coach Mike Anderson said. "It's an opportunity to compete against some of the best players at their position and get some great advice from folks around the professional game."
Carroll, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound low post threat, earned Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year honors last season by recording 13.0 points and a team- high 6.7 rebounds per game. Carroll is scheduled to graduate in May.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Lyons logged a team-high 13.3 points per game and ranked first in the Big 12 in field goal percentage (.583).
