Texas G Augustin declares for NBA Draft

Austin, TX (Sports Network) - University of Texas sophomore point guard D.J. Augustin announced Wednesday he will make himself eligible for the 2008 NBA Draft.
Augustin, who last season became just the fifth player in school history to earn consensus first-team All-America honors, has not hired an agent.
"I have had a great experience here at the University of Texas," Augustin said. "All I can say is 'thank you' to my teammates, coaching staff and fans that have supported us during my two years at Texas. I have matured a lot as a person, both on and off the court. I have dreamed of playing in the NBA since I was a little boy, and I am ready to start living this dream."
Augustin has played in 73 games in his collegiate career, averaging 16.9 points and 6.2 assists per contest. This past season he guided the Longhorns to a 31-7 record and an appearance in the Elite Eight, averaging 19.2 points and a Big 12 Conference-best 5.8 assists per game.

"As good as he is on the basketball court, D.J. is an even better person off the court."
The 2008 NBA Draft takes place Thursday, June 26 in New York City.
