Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Kansas guard Sherron Collins underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday, according to his head coach Bill Self.
"Sherron had some knee problems this year and we knew it was going to require surgery after the season," Self said. "He toughed it out and was a primary reason for our success this year."
"Doctors said the surgery went very well and anticipate no complications. Sherron should be starting rehab soon and doctors expect a full recovery. With the season recently ending, he has plenty of time to heal."
As a sophomore, Collins earned the 2008 Big 12 Conference Sixth Man Award by averaging 9.3 points and 3.0 assists for the national champions.
The 5-foot-11 Collins scored 11 points, dished out six assists and added three steals against the Memphis Tigers in KU's 75-68 overtime win in the national championship game.
