Griese, Umenyiora and Burleson headline NFC Players of the Week

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Chicago quarterback Brian Griese, Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver/return specialist Nate Burleson earned NFC Player of the Week honors for Week 7.
Griese threw for 322 yards on 27-of-41 passes with one touchdown and no interceptions in a come-from-behind victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Griese capped off a 97-yard game-winning drive with a 15-yard TD pass to Muhsin Muhammad. This marked Griese's third-career Player of the Week award.
Umenyiora, who captured his third-career Player of the Week award, notched a sack, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries as the Giants topped the 49ers. One of Umenyiora's fumble recoveries was returned 75 yards for a score.
Burleson received Special Teams Player of the Week honors after returning a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown in Seattle's victory over St. Louis. For the game, Burleson averaged 58.5 yards per kickoff return. This was Burleson's first-career Player of the Week honors.
